I dreamed of her

She was dressed all in white
Such a wonderful sight

Standing there in that dress
Young and beautiful, I confess

This dream was such I never wanted it to end
She was more than love, she was my true friend

For this dream was beautiful as she will always be
If not for the curtain, the mountains, she might see

But love, I've found, cannot reside just in dreams
For it to go on it must be greater than a ring

But in this dream my heart was lifted
What I felt was real and I was gifted

For she was once my one and everything
The light returned, the promise of spring

Broken hearted this dream turned into daylight
And as much as I wanted, as much as I might

I was left alone with these memories, a heartbeat still
For to love her was to be true, and I always will

Maybe I'll find her again in a dream
And in that moment I will rejoice and beam

And the weight of regrets will be lifted in time
And I'll return to her, if only in the mind

Until that time comes I'll linger and try
Forever withholding the fatal "goodbye"
