Standing up for what we believe in (by Jeff Schrembs)
It isn't easy to be separated from those you love dearly.
It isn't easy to have your time, and/or lack of, with your children put into the hands of court proceedings.
It isn't easy on the children and that is what matters most.
No matter how "old" they get, and/or how far away they are, my blood runs through their veins and I will never stop loving them nor being proud of them. God blessed me with them and that blessing goes on long past the time I laid eyes upon them.
I hope that somewhere in their lives, in whatever paths they choose, they will give pause and know that I have tried, now and throughout my life, to stand up for what I believe in. It has not been easy and I have, most certainly, made mistakes along the way.
Perhaps one day, God willing, they will stand up and say "enough". To stand up and give their Father the opportunity to see them in whatever capacity, and under whatever terms and/or pace, their heart leads them. These steps may not initially be "easy" but I am committed to showing them how much I love them and that I can be a consistent, positive, and loving parent to them.
My prayers go out to my children (individually and collectively) and I miss, and love them, so.
